2. Danganronpa 2×2

The first Danganronpa game (released back in 2010) was a murder mystery, featuring a group of high school students locked up at Hope’s Peak Academy, being forced to kill each other if they wanted to escape the school… Being forced by Monokuma that is, a sadistic panda bear who’s the main antagonist of this visual novel series. The game’s 2012 sequel did not shake up things massively, still featuring a gripping tale, puzzle and action game elements, and the frenetic “class trials”, in which the students had to figure out who the author of each murder was or be executed by Monokuma in lieu of the culprit…

And Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair will be getting a remake in 2026, but there’s a twist: titled “Danganronpa 2×2”, this not only contains a remade version of the original Danganronpa sequel, but also a completely new scenario which shares the same island setting as the original game. The series’ creator is also involved despite this being made by another studio, so fans and newcomers can be assured this could be another incredible, but visually upgraded and gameplay enhanced, Danganronpa experience when it lands next year.

Release date: TBA 2026. Available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch.
