4. Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties

The Yakuza series of video games has been going strong since the first game hit shelves in 2005. Of course, the original instalments were looking a bit long in the tooth so they got a remake – Yakuza Kiwami and Yakuza Kiwami 2 were excellent action-adventure crime dramas set in Japan. So fans of 2009’s Yakuza 3 wondered when the game would get the “Kiwami” treatment, as for some this is one of the best entries in the series.

And thankfully Sega is getting ready to release Yakuza Kiwami 3 next year. Set in both Okinawa and a fictional district of Tokyo named Kamurocho, protagonist Kiryu will have to face both powerful Yakuza bosses and corrupt politicians (plus the CIA too) in order to defend his beachside orphanage… The original game had a ton of minigames and side activities (including golf) which have likely been reworked for this remake of the Yakuza sequel, plus enhanced combat will let the “Dragon of Dojima” hit harder than before too… Also, the fact that this will include “Dark Ties”, a separate game which lets you play as crime boss Yoshitaka Mine is more than icing on the cake in what could be one of 2026’s top video game releases no doubt.

Release date: February 12, 2026. Available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, Nintendo Switch 2 and PS4.
