5. The Sinking City 2

The Sinking City, a 2019 game, was a flawed but atmospheric game set in the mysterious American city of Oakmont. Players took the role of detective Charles Reed, and had to face all sorts of villains and monsters inspired by the works of author H.P. Lovecraft. Reed had supernatural powers, while the city was slowly sinking too… Also, the game’s remastered edition has been one of the best gaming experiences of 2025 for sure.

So those who enjoyed the first game and newcomers looking to take the plunge might have been pleased that Ukrainian studio Frogwares’ announcement of a sequel, another Lovecraftian game set in early 20th century America. There’s a new setting (the city of Arkham) and a new protagonist, but this appears to be just as atmospheric as 2019’s The Sinking City was judging by the gameplay video below. This might give you Resident Evil vibes too, but hopefully Frogwares will lean more into Lovecraft’s horror and deliver another enjoyable detective game with this sequel next year.
