This should also ease the burden of repetition that was a result of the earlier games’ linear, mission-based gameplay, while the people at Team Ninja have also added the ability to jump in-game, improving transversal and discovery in the game’s open maps. You’ll also encounter historical characters in your journey like Queen Himiko (who’s seen in the trailer below), while many vicious Yokai await to be slain as players fight to become the next Shogun, or military ruler, of Japan… It would be a great thing, then, if this Nioh sequel lived up to the hype, with it being able to match the quality of earlier entries by Team Ninja when it launches in early 2026.
