5. Metro Awakening VR

The Metro series of games has been around for a while now, delivering immersive gameplay in a post-apocalyptic world devastated by nuclear weapons. This new Metro game, though, could deliver an even more immersive experience than the others, as it’s a VR game that requires Sony’s PSVR2 headset in order to play.

In this Metro game, you play a doctor who’s looking for his wife in the underground tunnels of the Moscow metro. The story has supernatural elements, and has been written by the author behind the Metro novels. It remains to be seen how well this makes use of the PSVR2’s features in order to immerse players in the game’s action, as great virtual reality games have been few and far between. But according to developer Vertigo Games, they’ve made use of the headsets features to simulate sensations related to pulling weapons triggers and being hit by bullets, so this could be one realistic VR game worth watching out for this year…
