8. Anno 117: Pax Romana

The Anno series of games have successfully combined real-time strategy with city building. And ever since the release of Anno 1800 fans have been clamoring for an Anno game set during the time of the Roman Empire… The upcoming Anno 117: Pax Romana will finally take the series to ancient Rome, letting you become a Roman governor as you take care of one of the Empire’s provinces.

As the gameplay video below shows, you’ll be taking care of things from laying down roads to building majestic monuments such as the Colosseum, where the crowds gather for entertainment, watching the bloody arena – yes, this will be the most graphically-detailed Anno game yet according to developer Ubisoft Mainz. You can also stick it to the Emperor and raise an army to start a revolt, or engage in diplomacy to improve your standing with the Empire… Judging by the gameplay video, things are coming together nicely for Ubisoft with this Anno game, which might yet turn out to be the series’ best when it ships this fall.

Release date: November 13, 2025. Available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
