Ubisoft certainly took a lot of criticism back in 2014 when they stated that Assassin’s Creed Unity featured no playable female characters because presumably this would have doubled the work. And many gamers were quick to accuse the French publisher of sexism, but thankfully Ubisoft has seen sense and this year’s Assassin’s Creed Syndicate will feature a female playable character.

Evie Frye will be the first playable female character in a major Assassin’s Creed game, and she is a member of the Assassin order in Victorian London, who will be helping her brother Jacob Frye free the poor and oppressed from their hated enemies, the Templars… Players will be able to switch between Jacob and Evie at will during the game’s free roaming sections (like it was possible to switch between characters in the latest GTA game), although presumably certain story missions will only be playable as one character or another.

All in all, adding Evie as a playable character is a great way to freshen the series gameplay, especially considering the fact that Evie has special abilities that allow her to be stealthier during missions…
