5 Reasons Why Dragon Age: Inquisition Is the ‘Worst’ Best Game of the Year

5. Run-of-the-mill plot

When I first began playing Dragon Age: Inquisition, the game’s premise of a “breach” in the sky through which foul creatures were entering the land was familiar. It reminded me of Guillermo del Toro’s 2013 movie “Pacific Rim”, in which huge reptile-like creatures were entering Earth through a breach in the bottom of the ocean. In both Dragon Age: Inquisition and del Toro’s movie, the goal was to close “the breach” and save the world.

And besides the “breach”, Inquisition’s other plot ideas are also generic: the hero is an unwary champion chosen by fate, the only one who can save the world. And like in Mass Effect 2, the champion has to recruit a party of badass heroes to assist him in his mission. The land of Thedas is your typical medieval fantasy world. And although the world is huge and there are a variety of locations from lush forests to dry deserts, you end up doing the same boring generic quests in each area, such as collecting herbs and setting up camps. Although at least those battles with dragons are suitably epic…
