Hitman 3 trailer showcases gameplay

Hitman 3 is one of next year’s most eagerly anticipated games, no doubt. It will be a conclusion to the “World of Assassination” trilogy which began in 2016, and which has taken Hitman’s protagonist Agent 47 to various locations all around the world.

A recently released trailer for Hitman 3 shows Agent 47 strutting his stuff in three of Hitman 3’s locations. These are a luxurious skyscraper in Dubai, an old manor in Dartmoor, England, and the streets of Chongqinq, China, a location which was recently shown off by game makers IO Interactive.

This new trailer, though, is more about gameplay than showing off Hitman 3’s locales (which are bound to look great as in the earlier games nonetheless).

Playing as professional hitman Agent 47, you get to travel around the world in order to kill “some of the best protected people in the world” as the trailer below says.

It’s a good thing then, that Agent 47 will be able to resort to his usual arsenal of weapons including his trusty silenced pistol and sniper rifle, which lets you take targets from a distance without getting your hands dirty. Of course, as in the earlier Hitman 2 game you can also pick up objects in the world and throw them at enemies in order to knock them out if that tickles you fancy…

New in Hitman 3 as seen in the trailer is the remote hacking of locks using Agent 47’s new camera, something which could add to the gameplay possibilities.

Of course, all the assassination methods seen in the earlier games also appear to be available in Hitman 3. Poisoning your target, making a heavy object fall on their heads for an accident kill or getting you hands dirty with the garrote are all ways of finishing the job in Hitman 3. Also, setting up a meeting with the person you’ve got to kill while impersonating somebody else could be an amusing way of putting an end to their lives as it was in the earlier games…

There will also be plenty of disguises for Agent 47 to wear in Hitman 3 as there were in Hitman 2 and Hitman 2016, it seems.

Judging by IO Interactive’s latest trailer, it sure looks like Hitman 3 could be something special. More so taking into account that the game will run at 4K resolution and 60 frames per second on new-gen consoles, meaning PS5 and Xbox Series X owners will get a version that looks as good as the PC one. The game will also release on PS4 and Xbox One, and Google Stadia.

So will Hitman 3 be the perfect swan song for the trilogy, as IO Interactive gets ready to shift gears and focus on their upcoming James Bond game? This remains to be seen, but if IO can deliver the same varied gameplay, superbly detailed locations and intriguing story as they did in Hitman 2016 and Hitman 2, this will likely be another fantastic action and stealth game when it arrives early next year.
