Star Wars Outlaws to get story DLC this fall

It’s clear that Star Wars Outlaws is one of the most anticipated games launching in 2024.

Made by French video game company Ubisoft, this will be the first Star Wars game to feature open-world gameplay, and will be hitting shelves on August 30.

And Ubisoft recently revealed that the game will be getting story DLC after launch. More specifically, the game will be getting two story packs post-launch, one of which will be arriving this fall.

The “Wild Card” story DLC is coming in fall 2024 as stated earlier, and is part of Star Wars Outlaws season pass. In it, game protagonist Kay Vess will have to infiltrate a card tournament, only to cross paths with iconic Star Wars character Lando Calrissian. It’s not clear what role Lando will play in the DLC’s story (and the game’s overall plot), but according to Ubisoft’s website Kay “soon learns that another game is being played”, so there might be a surprise or two in store for Star Wars fans here.

As previously mentioned, this story DLC is part of the game’s season pass, which also includes another story pack titled “A Pirate’s Fortune”. This one, though, won’t be available until spring next year, so expect a late March 2025 release at the soonest. This second story DLC stars Hondo Ohnaka, who Kay runs into at an unspecified location in the Star Wars universe. The man is looking to get even with a bunch of ruthless pirates, something a tough smuggler like Kay Vess might be willing to help him out with…

Besides the two story DLCs (which are included with the game’s season pass but can be bought separately too), there’s also one extra bit of content for those who get the game’s season pass, which is priced at $40 US dollars. An extra mission titled “Jabba’s Gambit” will see Kay run into trouble with the infamous Jabba the Hutt, who also appears in Star Wars Outlaws main story.

Star Wars Outlaws is launching this summer, on August 30, and like other Ubisoft games will be a multiplatform release arriving on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. A sore point is that the PC version will be an Epic Games Store exclusive on launch day, so those who prefer Steam will have to wait in order to buy the game on Valve’s platform.

It’s clear, though, that a lot is riding on Star Wars Outlaws for Ubisoft. It’s the first open-world Star Wars game and one of the few to feature a female protagonist. And it definitely could become one of the year’s top video game hits if it ends up being well-liked by Star Wars fans and gamers in general. This is the first Star Wars game by Ubisoft, developed by its Swedish studio Massive Entertainment (which were also behind The Division games).

Star Wars Outlaws won’t be as long as other Ubisoft open-world games, clocking in at about 30 hours according to Ubisoft. There’s always the upcoming story DLC to prolong the experience, which will hopefully be as good as everyone is expecting when Star Wars Outlaws arrives in a couple of weeks’ time.
