13. Assassin’s Creed Rogue (2014)
Funnily enough, his time with the Assassins is more interesting than anything he does with the Templars. Hunting Assassins on New York’s streets by listening to whispers in “eagle vision” mode is an interesting diversion too, but feels out of place here. Not the best Assassin’s Creed then (despite the uplifting title music), but one you might still want to pick up, if only so that you can stick it to the Assassins for a change.
Came out on: PS4, Xbox One, PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.
14. Assassin’s Creed Unity (2014)
Despite its poor launch, Unity is one hell of a game. Boasting the biggest crowds ever in an Assassin’s Creed game, this also had graphics to die for. And 18th century Paris sure looked great here – the detail on buildings such as Notre Dame and the busy streets of Paris being a joy to watch. The cinematic scenes depicting protagonist Arno’s life are also brimming with detail.
The game’s story great, if a little predictable. Arno partners with his childhood love Elise to take out the Templars in Paris during the French Revolution, and there are plenty of exciting moments throughout. Arno and Elise are arguably the best pair in Assassin’s Creed to date, and this is a memorable game any Assassin’s Creed fan worth his salt should play.
Came out on: PS4, Xbox One and PC.
15. Assassin’s Creed Syndicate (2015)
Victorian London is the setting of this Assassin’s Creed game. You can imagine everything from Big Ben to Whitechapel was finely detailed here – and it is. The game feels slightly soulless, though, even if there’s tons to do in 19th century London. From chasing characters through London’s streets on carriages to collecting trinkets, and completing quests for historical figures like Charles Darwin, Ubisoft had all bases covered here.
You take control of protagonist Jacob Frye here. Also, and because Ubisoft got roasted for not including playable female characters in Assassin’s Creed Unity, the character of Evie Frye (his sister) was made available here for players to command. Both are good, if not great, characters. Meanwhile, Assassin’s Creed Syndicate itself can only be described as a solid game in the series, and nothing more.
Came out on: PS4, Xbox One and PC.
