19. Assassin’s Creed: Identity (2016)
This is more of a bite-sized adventure and with a paper-thin story, though, and the game’s cities do feel a bit empty. But Identity did capture that Assassin’s Creed magic on mobiles, and is actually a good entry in Ubisoft’s long-running series.
Came out on: iOS and Android.
20. Assassin’s Creed Unity: Arno’s Chronicles (2017)
This game is based on Assassin’s Creed Unity, boasting a similar plot set during the bloody French Revolution. Gameplay here is like in the Assassin’s Creed Chronicles games: enemies have cones of vision, and you can use stealth tactics, killing them from behind or pouncing on them from a height (you mostly use the sword in the rest of the game though).
Assassin’s Creed’s trademark leap of faith is present and correct, while the action takes place mostly outdoors on Paris’ streets. There are also sequences in which you ride a hot air balloon to spice things up, avoiding lighting and dropping bombs on unsuspecting guards from above. All in all, this is a fun enough diversion for Assassin’s Creed fans on the go no doubt.
Came out on: Android.
21. Assassin’s Creed Origins (2017)
Ubisoft choose ancient Egypt for this Assassin’s Creed reboot, and it sure was a great setting. Playing as Bayek, you go to scale dunes and climb the Pyramids of Giza in this Egyptian adventure. You also got to help sexy Cleopatra take out the Order of the Ancients – an early version of the Templar order. Also, like in the earlier Assassin’s Creeds, revenge is at the center of this tale.
Protagonist Bayek isn’t quite as charismatic as earlier Assassin’s Creed protagonists like Ezio Auditore, though. He’s more in league with Altair, the dark and serious lead of the first Assassin’s Creed. The combat got a reworking in Origins too, something which made fighting the game’s variety of enemies more fun in this pretty great Egyptian Assassin’s Creed.
Came out on: PS4, Xbox One and PC.
