22. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey (2018)
There were also lots of different armor and weapons to use here, meaning those with a desire to collect all sorts of gear could smile with joy. Exploring ancient Greece and coming across monuments like the Parthenon was rewarding too. But characters matter more in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, with a feisty girl named Phoibe, an evil foe named Deimos and others moving the plot of this great Assassin’s Creed forward.
Came out on: PS4, Xbox One and PC.
23. Assassin’s Creed Rebellion (2018)
Assassin’s Creed Rebellion boasts a cute art style, and also its production values are top notch. You get to train assassins and craft weapons at the Assassin’s headquarters amongst other things, but the real fun to be had here is by sending your team of assassins on missions. These missions involve getting through a series of rooms in which you have to resort to stealth, disarm traps, get over obstacles or take guards head on.
This plays like a turn-based squad game, with some assassins in your team being more suited to climbing and assassination, while others will be better at disarming traps for instance. And with dozens of Assassins to unlock as you play, this surely is a mobile game you could be playing for a while.
Came out on: iOS and Android.
24. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla (2020)
Valhalla is the first Assassin’s Creed with Vikings, and a good one at that. Anyone who played Assassin’s Creed Origins or Assassin’s Creed Odyssey will find this a familiar experience, as this too is an open world action and role-playing game. Some changes are welcome, though, such as the fact that Assassin’s Creed’s trademark hidden blade is as powerful here as in the early games, letting you “insta-kill” enemies with one hit.
Also, “social stealth” is back, letting you blend in crowds to ambush your enemies. Assaulting English castles is also spectacular, an action-packed experience made more intense by the gory action on display. Also, Ubisoft paid attention to past accusations of sexism and players can switch freely between the male and female versions of protagonist Eivor throughout this Viking adventure.
Came out on: PS4, Xbox One, PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S and others.
