Tom Clancy’s The Division, Ubisoft’s upcoming video game, is based on the works of renowned American novelist Tom Clancy. The writer was famous for his military-themed stories set during the Cold War, in which the stakes were always sky-high. And The Division’s story is set in a post-apocalyptic New York city, in which a deadly virus outbreak has left the city’s residents fighting for their lives.
And Ubisoft recently released a new trailer for the game (see below), showing bits from the story, like disquieting scenes in a clinic and a gang shooting a hostage. The trailer also shows the game’s third person action gameplay, showcasing several of the weapons available in the game, and New York landmarks like Manhattan Bridge are also seen.

The Division will be an online multiplayer team-based shooter, and although the game also features a single player campaign, the primary focus will clearly be on its multiplayer modes. The game’s story pits the tactical agents of The Division against the evil group known as “the Cleaners”, who want to deal with the epidemic by resorting to a scorched earth policy, and can be seen wielding flamethrowers in the trailer.
The game’s multiplayer modes will also feature novelties like letting players play support roles by controlling drones using mobile devices like tablets, for instance.
Although it remains to be seen whether this new IP by Ubisoft ends up being a success or not, the French video game company has shown that they can deliver when it comes to producing top-notch shooters, as their past games like Far Cry 3 have been great. So perhaps The Division can offer a good multiplayer action experience to gamers when it is released this year, making the long wait for the game (it was originally scheduled for a 2015 release) worth it.
Note: Tom Clancy’s The Division will be released on March 8, 2016. It will be available on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
