Aside from the launch of next-gen consoles this fall, PC gamers all around the world will likely be excited by the launch of new Nvidia cards this year too. This is especially true taking into account that Nvidia’s new graphics processors offer big performance gains compared to the previous generation.
The new GeForce RTX 3080 and the RTX 3090 were indeed very hard to pre-order last month, and are still very hard to find at retailers worldwide. Nvidia’s CEO put this down to unprecedented demand for the new series 30, which as stated earlier really move the goalposts when it comes to performance as most reviews have pointed out.
Many PC gamers anxious to upgrade their PC with a RTX 3070 graphics card might be fearing a repeat of last month’s situation, with the new GeForce card being as hard to get hold of as its high-end peers this month. This is despite the fact that Nvidia delayed the launch of the new GeForce until October 29, to make sure retailers could better keep up with demand.
Better availability at retail seems very likely to be the case according to Japanese site PC Watch, with Japanese retailers saying their stock of RTX 3070 cards will be much higher than that of the RTX 3080 (and RTX 3090), as was recently reported on Game Rant.
Japanese electronics shops in Tokyo’s Akihabara shopping hub will have a much larger supply of the new RTX 3070 card, as PC Watch found out.
Despite this, it’s likely that the new RTX 3070 will sell quickly (or rather fly off the shelves), taking into account recent reviews of Nvidia’s new graphics hardware.
Actually, TechSpot called the RTX 3070 “the most efficient graphics card we’ve ever tested” and “the best value graphics card in terms of cost per frame” in its review, pointing out that the new card is more than a match for the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti. It is able to outperform the RTX 2080 Ti in games such as Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and Horizon Zero Dawn (running at 4K and maximum quality settings), but lagged slightly behind in games such as Gears 5 and Shadow of the Tomb Raider (also at 4K and maximum quality settings).
The RTX 3070 card is expected to sell for $499 US dollars, which is significant taking into account that the RTX 2080 Ti retails for about $1,200 US dollars, meaning the RTX 3070 surely is one of the best-value graphics cards to ever hit the market.
It would be a great thing for all those planning to upgrade their PC with a GeForce RTX 3070 that there’s indeed plenty of stock of the new card to go around this year, then.
