3. Firewatch
Set in the Wyoming wilderness, Firewatch features a protagonist in his 40’s named Henry who takes up a job as a fire lookout in order to escape from his troubled life… And the game’s landscapes and forests sure look beautiful, while Henry’s haunting conversations with his female supervisor Delilah over the radio and his quest to solve a mystery in the 80’s forests of Wyoming make for a truly compelling game.
And even if some have complained that there’s not much real gameplay here (after all, some may put this game in the infamous “walking simulator” category) as there are only basic puzzles to solve while the meat of the game involves exploration and listening to conversations, this is still an absorbing and atmospheric game and one of the best to come from the indie scene in 2016.
