5. Inside

Inside is the latest game by Playdead, the indie studio behind Limbo. And although that game from 2012 wasn’t particularly long and didn’t offer much replay value, it still was one of the year’s gaming highlights, with its great atmosphere, art style and puzzle-based gameplay.

Playdead’s newest game Inside is its spiritual successor, with a similar dark and atmospheric visual style, and gameplay focused on environmental puzzles like its predecessor. As in Limbo, players control a young boy who must deal with all manner of threats in the game’s hostile world. This while being hunted by the sinister forces behind the dark project he finds himself becoming part of… This not only looks beautiful but is also superb fun to play, and haunting like few games manage to be, making this one of the top games to have come out in 2016 so far.
