Rockstar is certainly not shy of spending big money to develop and market their video games, as no less than four Rockstar games have made this list. And Red Dead Redemption’s budget of $100 million (£65 million) is on a par with that of big Hollywood blockbusters. But given the game’s outstanding quality, it was money well spent.

And video gamers certainly enjoyed Red Dead Redemption’s protagonist John Marton adventures in the Wild West, as the game sold over 12 million copies (according to vgchartz.com) and was one of the big hits of the previous console generation, despite the game being controversial due to accusations of racism.
