There’s one character Mortal Kombat fans know well, and that’s none other than Rayden, the thunder god. And given that Warner Bros.’ latest fighting game Injustice 2 features characters from the Mortal Kombat universe, it was only a matter of time before Rayden made it to the game.
So, it is not surprising, then, that Rayden is the protagonist of Injustice 2’s latest trailer, in which we get to see the thunder god in action as he gets to duke it out with supervillain Brainiac. Here he shows off his electricity-based attacks and also his finisher – an epic and crushing move that will sure be a pleasure to execute once we get to play as Rayden in Injustice 2.
Thankfully, those eager to play as the thunder god won’t have to wait that long for him to join Injustice 2’s roster, as he will be released as a DLC character in early October.
Rayden is also included in the Fighter Pack 2 DLC, together with DC characters Hellboy and Black Manta. This package launched in early September and retails for $20 like the earlier Fighter Pack 1, and could prove to be a good purchase for Injustice 2 fans who just can’t get enough of Warner Bros. latest fighting game, that’s for sure. Also interesting is the fact that those who purchased the Ultimate Edition of the game will get the Black Lighting skin for Rayden, which is also showcased in the trailer.
This is not the first DLC pack Warner Bros. has put out for the game. Actually, since Injustice 2’s release in May, several additional characters have been released as DLC, including Mortal Kombat character Sub-Zero, Starfire and Red Hood (which form part of Fighter Pack 1), while DLC character Black Manta is already available. And here’s hoping Warner Bros. will keep releasing more content for Injustice 2, a fighting game which is arguably one of the best video game releases of 2017 to date.
