Cleopatra’s Egypt has chariots and sphinxes in Civilization 6

There is no doubt that Cleopatra, queen of ancient Egypt, is one of history’s better-known figures. She’s known as a seductress due to her relationships with the Roman leaders Julius Caesar and Mark Anthony, and the latest preview video for the upcoming strategy game Civilization VI reminds us how her love affairs changed the course of history forever…

Of course, Cleopatra also leads a powerful civilization that can go toe to toe with any opponent in the game thanks to Egypt’s powerful chariots, which get a movement advantage when they begin the turn on open terrain, meaning that they can be used in a defensive role in the early game and also to harass the enemy with quick attacks.

But Egypt will also be a valuable ally in Civilization VI thanks to the fact that setting up trade routes with Egypt will provide extra food to civilizations that do commerce with the Egyptian civilization, plus Egypt also gets extra gold from its trade routes making it a good choice for players who want to turn their civilization into an economic powerhouse.

Given that ancient Egypt is known due to its great monuments like the Pyramids of Giza, it is logical that the Egyptian civilization in the game can build wonders faster if they are located next to rivers. Egypt can also build sphinxes in the game, which get bonuses when situated near a Wonder of the World (such as the Pyramids), and help develop Egypt’s culture.

So it certainly looks like Civilization VI’s Egyptian civilization will be as fun to play with as in earlier instalments of the game, although we’ll only know for sure if this upcoming game in the long-running Civilization series will manage to surpass the earlier Civilization V when it ships later this year.

Note: Sid Meier’s Civilization VI will be released on October 21, 2016. Available on PC and Mac.
