Many Batman fans were shocked when they saw the caped crusader holding a gun in one of the early gameplay videos for Batman: Arkham Knight. After all, it is clear that Batman’s golden rule is “do not kill” – so not even the villainous scum that inhabits Gotham’s streets has to worry about meeting an untimely end at the caped crusader’s hands. In the end, this gun turned out to be a “remote electrical charge gun” which can be used to stun those thugs temporarily.

But as one Forbes writer argued, the introduction of the Batmobile makes it hard to think that Batman isn’t actually killing anyone. He does get to blow up a bazillion tanks with it, but any thugs that get in the way get pushed away with a massive electrical shock sending them flying away and perhaps slamming into a concrete wall. But as this is a Batman game they will be OK afterwards, of course…
