It is clear that GTA V is one of the best-selling, most played and most loved games of all time. It has shifted more than 50 million copies, after all. And even if the game has been controversial for its portrayal of nihilistic violence, roaming around the fictional city of Los Santos, meeting the game’s colourful cast and carrying out criminal missions is one of the most fun experiences gamers can enjoy in a video game.

But GTA V also features those rather evil microtransactions. The game lets you pay real money to “buy” in-game cash. Yes, you can actually convert your real life dollars (or pounds) into virtual money… This money can then be used in Los Santos to buy cars for instance, or clothing or weapons for the game’s trio of protagonists. And this crazy microtransaction might actually be great if you are the sort of person who spends more time in the game’s city of Los Santos than in the real world…
