Fallout 4’s Far Harbor DLC trailer shows new characters and setting

While previous DLC packs for Fallout 4 have been thin on story (and the recent Wasteland Workshop DLC mostly added new items to the workshop and had no story component), the upcoming Far Harbor DLC, for which Bethesda has recently released a trailer, will add a new story campaign taking place in a completely new setting.

Actually, the island of Far Harbor (off the coast of the US state of Maine) is the largest landmass to feature in any DLC for a Bethesda game, meaning it is even bigger than Oblivion’s great Shivering Isles DLC and the pretty good Dragonborn expansion for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

Aside from Far Harbor taking place on a new landmass with its own distinct geography and features, this new DLC will offer a new story, and feature both new characters and also some old favourites like detective Nick Valentine. Actually, the story begins with a missing persons case in detective Nick Valentine’s office, with a woman asking the player to locate her daughter, who has gone missing on the mysterious island of Far Harbor.

And given that in Far Habor “higher levels of radiation have created a more feral world” according to the official description, it is also likely that there will be new, fearsome creatures to fight on this conflicted island. Also the player will have to take sides in a conflict between several factions on the island: the Children of Atom fanatics, the weary locals and a colony of synths shrouded in secrecy.

So it looks like this could be one of the most interesting Bethesda expansions to date, and will likely get Fallout fans excited and willing to go back to Fallout 4’s post-apocalyptic world when Far Harbor is released this May.

Note: Fallout 4’s Far Harbor expansion will be released on May 19, 2016. Available on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
