New Fallout 4 DLC Automatron Launches in March 2016

If one thing is clear, is that Bethesda’s Fallout 4 video game was one of the top releases of 2015. The game also picked up the Game of the Year award at DICE, and it’s arguably as strong an RPG as CD Projekt’s blockbuster The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. So logically fans of Bethesda’s role-playing games were excited to hear about the Maryland company’s DLC plans for Fallout 4 last February.

Regarding the game’s DLC, Fallout 4’s season pass features one big story DLC titled “Far Harbor“, which takes place on a new landmass separate from the Boston Commonwealth players have been exploring since November. There are also two other smaller Pokémon-inspired DLC packs, one of which lets players capture Wasteland creatures like Deathclaws and fight them in an arena and is titled “Wasteland Workshop”, while the upcoming DLC “Automatron” is all about robots.

And those who played Fallout 4 likely remember Codsworth as their loyal robot companion in the game, who admittedly wasn’t that interesting to hang around with, but could help the player get out of a sticky situation or two. With this new Automatron DLC though, players will be able to build their own robot companions, and fight a robot army unleashed by an evil entity known as “The Mechanist”.

Automatron’s trailer (see above) shows plenty of robot combat, and the multiple options players will have for building a robot companion, mixing and matching parts taken from enemy robots. It is even possible to pick paint colours and even choose the robot’s voice, according to Bethesda’s description of the DLC. Robots can also be outfitted with several weapons, including the new lighting chain gun.

So even though Fallout 4 was originally released a couple of months ago, this first batch of DLC might be enough to rekindle players interest in Bethesda’s post-apocalyptic RPG, which no doubt was one of the top offerings of 2015 and worth taking out for a spin again.

Note: The Automatron DLC for Fallout 4 will be released on March 22, 2016. Available on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
