4. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III

Another year, another Call of Duty game. But even with Microsoft in control of Activision now (for better or worse), Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III has not been a stellar release this year. Actually, it’s one of the most disappointing (and worst) entries in the franchise to date, and a notch below the pretty good Modern Warfare II of last year.

The usual suspects are present in this Call of Duty game: the solo campaign, multiplayer and zombies. The first is short and uninspired, while multiplayer offers recycled versions of iconic maps to tickle players’ nostalgia. Admittedly the zombie mode is more than decent according to most reviewers, but it’s hard not to think this was actually going to be an expansion to last year’s game rather than its own thing. So all things considered this is one of the most disappointing video game releases of the year, then.
