As sad as it may seem, video game companies put out disappointing games every year. These are games that fail to live up to the hype, despite the game makers’ best intentions. Maybe the gameplay is subpar or the game’s story just fails to engage, but in the end much more was expected from these video games. So here follows a list of the top 5 most disappointing games of 2023.

5. Forspoken

This was one of the most eagerly awaited games of the year, a hot AAA release many gamers had on their wish lists. And with Square Enix behind it, many were hoping Forspoken would end up being a fantasy game to remember.

It having a female protagonist was also a bold choice, while the fantasy world of Athia did have its charms. But it’s let down but its story, annoying dialogue, a rather slow opening and empty open world – this just never realizes its potential, and sadly it ends up standing in the pantheon of this year’s most disappointing games.
