Even if this Prey game is completely unrelated to the earlier Prey video game released back in 2006 (or its ill-fated sequel which was eventually cancelled), Bethesda’s reboot of the franchise is still looking like it could be one of the year’s top titles when it hits the shelves in 2017. The game is a first-person shooter set aboard a space station, and judging by the gameplay video below developer Arkane Studios has taken a tip or two from the great survival-horror game Dead Space.

And not only does the game have an oppressive atmosphere and plenty of scary creatures to put down, but it also boasts an interesting arsenal of guns and special powers that players will be able to use in combat. For instance, one gun in the game can be used to immobilize enemies, and players will also have a “Mimic” power at their disposal in the game which allows them to transform into ordinary objects in order to get through tight spots. And given its innovative gameplay features, there’s no doubt that this Prey game could turn out to be one of the year’s surprises when it’s released next year.

Release date: TBA 2017. Available on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
