4. Mafia III

The Mafia series of video games has always offered a nice alternative to the GTA games for fans of open-world, crime video games, and this latest entry in the series is looking to be the best yet judging by the preview videos we’ve seen so far. The Gamescom video below shows that Mafia III will feature GTA V-style heists in its single player campaign, which is set in 1960’s New Bordeaux, a fictional city based on real-life New Orleans.

The game’s protagonist is Vietnam veteran Lincoln Clay, who’s out to avenge the black mob after they are taken out by the rival Italian Mafia, and an interesting aspect of the game is how his lieutenants in the game (including Mafia II protagonist Vito) can even turn on Lincoln during the campaign if he plays against their interests too much… And there’s no doubt that Mafia III is one of the most interesting and better-looking GTA clones to be released in years, so here’s hoping it lives up to the hype when it’s released later in the year.

Release date: October 7, 2016. Available on PS4, Xbox One, PC and Mac.
