Although most Halo fans are familiar with the franchise’s first-person action hits like Halo 5: Guardians, Microsoft also released a lesser known real-time strategy game named Halo Wars for the old Xbox 360 console back in 2009. That game is remembered as a flawed masterpiece, as its campaign was a tad short and only let gamers play as the human UNSC and not the Covenant alien faction, but still proved that a RTS game could work well on consoles.

And now hopes are up for Microsoft’s upcoming Halo Wars 2, which looks like it will improve on its predecessor judging by the game’s latest trailer, which was shown at this year’s Game Awards show. The game is being developed by none other than strategy maestros Creative Assembly, who are famous for their historical PC strategy games like Total War: Rome 2, meaning Halo Wars 2 could end up being a great console strategy experience when it’s released in February next year.

Release date: February 21, 2017. Available on Xbox One and PC.
