Shadow of the Tomb Raider is one of 2018’s most eagerly anticipated games, no doubt. Actually, this is the first new instalment in the series since Rise of the Tomb Raider delighted fans with its solid gameplay, good story and striking visuals in 2015 – it surely is one of the best games in the franchise to date.
And it looks like developer Eidos Montreal is truly pushing the envelope with Shadow of the Tomb Raider, and has also been teasing Tomb Raider fans with a series of preview videos showing what can be expected from this upcoming game. And not only does it look like Shadow of the Tomb Raider visuals will be top notch, but this will also feature the biggest hub ever in a Lara Croft game as was seen in an earlier preview video which took us on a tour of the mythical city of Paititi.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider’s latest preview video looks at another aspect of the game, and one which no doubt is crucial to the Tomb Raider experience: climbing. And it’s clear that getting on to high surfaces (or dropping into unstable ones from above too) will be particularly smooth in Shadow of the Tomb Raider, likely making playing through the game an even more fun experience.
Lara’s climbing skills can also come in handy in order to avoid the traps you’ll have to deal with in the game’s tombs (such as the spinning blades seen at some point in the video), while our intrepid heroine also makes better use of the grappling hook here – one of her favourite tools in 2015’s Rise of the Tomb Raider.
So, will Shadow of the Tomb Raider be a notch above the earlier games, delivering more high-octane action and adventure in its new South American setting? Lara Croft fans will surely be hoping it does, and judging by what we’ve seen so far of Shadow of the Tomb Raider this surely has the potential to be on of Lara’s best adventures, so it could be a great thing if Shadow of the Tomb Raider turns out to be one of 2018’s top games when it hits shelves later this year.
Note: Shadow of the Tomb Raider will be released on September 14, 2018. Available on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
