If one thing is clear, is that the upcoming Warcraft movie will feature a colourful cast of characters. Amongst these is the wizard Khadgar, who judging by the movie’s latest character trailer, sure is a force to contend with.
In the trailer Khadgar is seen casting a shield to protect his friends (which stops brutish orc Orgrim dead in his tracks…), and also using a lighting spell to take down an orc during a battle. The trailer also shows that this is one wizard fond of magical creatures, as he is seen riding a gryphon at some point too. Although as Khadgar himself admits, “saving the world is not a one man job”.
And he’s surely right, as the Human Alliance in the movie will have to contend with the brutish orcs led by Orgrim (who’s played by actor Robert Kazinsky), and who was the protagonist of an earlier character trailer. Although Khadgar (Ben Schnetzer) will have the support of other human warriors like Lothar (Travis Fimmel) who’s shown he’s a pretty badass warrior too in the movie’s earlier theatrical trailers.
There’s no doubt that this upcoming Warcraft movie is one of the most eagerly anticipated films of 2016, especially for fans of Blizzard’s video game series, and its combination of big budget special effects and fantasy spectacle could make it one of the most successful films of the year, even if most video game movies have not fared that well in the past.
But here’s hoping that director Duncan Jones’ upcoming movie can break the video game movie curse and end up being a worthy film when it hits the theatres this June.
Note: The Warcraft movie will be released on June 10 in the US, and May 30 in the UK.
