Hitman: World of Assassination to get a new “elusive target” mission this fall

The Hitman games have garnered quite a following, having millions of players worldwide. Also, the most recent entry in the series Hitman 3 has been quite a hit, being one of the most popular games to see a release in the last couple of years.

However, Danish studio IO Interactive (the people behind the games) now refer to the game as Hitman: World of Assassination, with the name change taking place after releasing the game’s much-vaunted Freelancer mode this year.

The game also now includes the entire campaigns from the previous two Hitman games, featuring more than twenty missions in total, in which protagonist Agent 47 has to assassinate targets in locations set all over the world.

Hitman: World of Assassination features other game modes, such as the “elusive target” missions, which are available for a limited time in the game. You cannot save the game during these missions, and there are no second attempts if Agent 47 is killed during the mission, adding to the tension and excitement…

IO Interactive, though, had not released a new Elusive Target mission in years, so Hitman players will likely be pleased to know that a new Elusive Target is coming to the game this fall. This will be none other than famous music DJ and actor Dimitri Vegas, as IO recently announced on its website.

In the game, Vegas plays “a DJ-turned-drug impresario bent on controlling the scene one way or another”, who goes by the alias “The Drop”.

Dimitri Vegas will lend his voice and likeness to the character, with the actor saying he’s “extremely excited to be a part of the Hitman universe”.

This new Elusive Target mission for Hitman: World of Assassination is coming sometime this fall, and will very likely be set in the game’s Berlin stage. In the campaign, players had to take out several targets in a Berlin nightclub, but this time Agent 47 will be gunning for the DJ as seen in the trailer above. Nothing personal, of course…

DJ and actor Dimitri Vegas is not the only celebrity to feature in Hitman to date, as an even bigger celebrity (actor Sean Bean) was Hitman 2’s first Elusive Target back in 2018.

There was also actor Gary Busey, who appeared in the game as an Elusive Target in the summer of 2016.

As for how players chose to murder Dimitri Vegas aka “The Drop” when he appears in the game this fall is another matter… Maybe a sniper rifle shot from afar, or a drop of poison in his drink?

What’s clear, though, is that Hitman 3 (now known as Hitman: World of Assassination) remains one of the best stealth and action games released in the last couple of years, and while I will be looking forward to Dimitri Vegas’ arrival in the game this fall, IO Interactive’s future projects such as their upcoming James Bond game should have players excited too.
