Electronic Arts has revealed that a Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order sequel is coming in 2023.

The American video game company (no longer as controversial as it used to be) has announced that Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will be hitting shelves next year, although it failed to provide a release date for its next Star Wars game as was recently reported on PC Gamer.

We do know, though, that this will be a next-gen game only, and will be hitting PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC at release.

This means that millions of people who enjoyed Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order on their PS4 or Xbox One consoles will be forced to upgrade to a new-gen console if they want to play Star Wars Jedi: Survivor (which may be something of a bummer for some of course).

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will continue the adventures of Cal Kestis (the protagonist of the first game) in a galaxy far, far away, and despite the fact that EA did not reveal a release date, it did put out a spectacular-looking trailer of its upcoming game.

This might be pre-rendered footage mind you, but it does look great, hinting at what developer Respawn Entertainment (which made the original and will also develop the sequel) will be able to do now, given that they are not bound by the limitations of last-gen consoles.

“For Jedi: Survivor, we are working in lockstep with Lucasfilm Games to build on the legacy of Jedi: Fallen Order. We’re leveraging advanced technology to create more dynamic Jedi combat and cinematic storytelling to expand on Cal’s story as he matures and survives during the dark times. We can’t wait to share more about the game with the world later this year”, said game director Stig Asmussen (via thexboxhub.com).

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order was a surprise hit in 2019, thanks to its good single player story, characters and third-person action, it also got the lightsaber combat right which is a must for any Star Wars game.

So the sequel Star Wars Jedi: Survivor certainly is a game that both video game and Star Wars fans will have on their wish lists, and we’re certainly looking forward to seeing more of this Jedi: Fallen Order sequel from EA and Respawn in the weeks and months to come no doubt.
