6. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition

The fantasy world of Tamriel will look even prettier in this upcoming Skyrim remaster.

If one thing is clear, is that The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim was the best game of 2011, a sprawling, open-world role-playing game which offered countless hours of entertainment. And although the original game looked superb on the PS3 and Xbox 360, those who have moved on to a new-gen console were probably longing for a remastered edition of this 2011 classic.

And thankfully Bethesda will be releasing a new-gen special edition of Skyrim this fall. This new version of the game will not only feature better graphics, but it will also allow console players to sample the tons of user mods that have been released for PC over the years, featuring new characters, quests, items and other niceties, likely making this special edition of Skyrim essential for newcomers and those who are looking to replay one of the best games of 2011.
