4. Civilization VI
The Civilization series of strategy video games has been running strong for over 25 years now, and is one of the best-selling and most-loved video game franchises of all time. So it is logical that Civilization fans were elated when game creators Firaxis announced that a new game in the series was coming this October.
And perhaps the most noteworthy feature of this new Civilization game is the “unstacking of cities”, so that individual buildings like libraries and research laboratories occupy specific tiles on the map, instead of everything being crammed into one city square. Also, the map won’t just be a static canvas but will determine player’s strategies and will have an effect on gameplay, and mining resources like marble will help speed up research of technologies like masonry for instance, making for a richer and more varied strategy experience in what could turn out be the best Civilization game yet.
Release date: October 21, 2016. Available on PC.
