Team Ninja, the people behind Nioh and its sequel, showed off their latest game during Sony’s State of Play. Judging by the trailer below, Rise of the Ronin will offer several interesting ways to get around the game’s world. You can run on rooftops Assassin’s Creed-style, and also glide through the skies and land on a horse, continuing your journey on horseback… It all seems very fluid as seen in the trailer. There will be landmarks to discover in 19th century Yokohama, one of the cities shown off in this preview.

Moving to the countryside, this looks more like Ghost of Tsushima with the game’s Ronin protagonist engaging in bloody samurai combat against his foes… Hopefully, though, this won’t be as hard as the Nioh games were and more in line with Ghost of Tsushima when it comes to difficulty, although you can also get hold of a flamethrower-like weapon to toast your enemies with, by befriending one of several characters in the game (an inventor named Igashichi). All in all, this looks like it could be another great Japanese game by the people at Team Ninja, so many gamers will have it on their radar come Rise of the Ronin’s launch on March 22 this year.
