3. Silent Hill 2 Remake
The original Silent Hill 2 game (which came out way back in 2001) had players controlling James Sunderland, a desperate man searching for his wife in the creepy town of Silent Hill… In the trailer below, James can be seen going toe to toe with all sorts of horrifying creatures. Both melee combat and gunplay are showcased here, but neither looks quite right – animations are a bit off, and weapons don’t sound punchy enough. Also, the graphics don’t really seem up to par for a AAA release coming to PS5 this year.
Bloober Team, the Polish studio handling this remake, made a name for themselves with indie horror games like Layers of Fear, but user reaction to this combat trailer for their Silent Hill 2 remake has been negative. Also, Silent Hill: The Short Message (Konami’s free Silent Hill game also showcased at this State of Play) has been poorly reviewed. But still, it would be a great thing if the Silent Hill 2 remake ends up living up to the hype when it launches in 2024.
