Top 5 games previewed at the 2024 Game Awards

The Game Awards honored the best games of 2024 last week, but it was also an opportunity for video game companies to preview their upcoming releases. Games like Mafia: The Old Country and the next game in The Witcher series were shown off at the show, much to the excitement of video game fans worldwide. And without further ado, here follows a list of the top 5 games previewed at this year’s Game Awards show.

1. Mafia: The Old Country

American studio Hangar 13 has been making games involving the mob for a long time now. But while the earlier Mafia 3 was set in the 1960s after the Vietnam war, Mafia: The Old Country rewinds the clock to the early 20th century. The trailer below, shown at the Game Awards, shows the game’s protagonist Enzo Favara taking part in an initiation ritual to join a mafiosi family in Sicily, in a scene which wouldn’t be out of place in a Godfather movie.

And it’s clear that Enzo will have to work hard to defend his family, taking part in shootouts and fighting enemies with melee weapons such as knives as seen in the trailer. This could be the best-looking and most fun Mafia game yet when it arrives next year, then.
