4. Onimusha: Way of the Sword

Capcom will be bringing back the Onimusha series this year, which had been dormant for a long time. After all, the last main game in the series (Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams) came out back in 2006, but it looks like the 20 year wait for another Onimusha game will be worth it judging by the trailer below. Set in feudal Japan (17th century Edo period Japan to be exact), the game stars samurai legend Miyamoto Musashi, who ends up in trouble early on…

You see, the man is stricken down by Genma, the race of demons which have been the main enemies of the series so far. Thankfully, Musashi is brought back to life with an Oni Gauntlet on his arm, which should give him an advantage as it allows him to absorb the souls of fallen enemies, restoring his life and letting him power-up special abilities amongst other things. According to the trailer below, Musashi “searches for his reason to fight”, and if this game is as much fun to play as it looks, gamers are in for a treat in feudal Japan when it releases this summer…

Release date: September 4, 2026. Available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2.
