9. Thief: The Dark Project Remastered

Many had been calling for a remaster of Thief: The Dark Project for a long while. After all, this 1998 classic game invented the stealth genre, although this is something Hideo Kojima’s first Metal Gear Solid game also deserves credit for. Nonetheless, Thief’s gameplay was quite novel at the time. Playing as a thief named Garret, you had to infiltrate places like mansions, prisons and ancient ruins looking for riches, in a story that dealt with the supernatural and a sect of fanatics known as the Hammerites…

It all looks very dated these days, though, so it’s a good thing that Nightdive Studios will be releasing a remaster of the 1998 classic. Judging by the trailer below, this will feature crisper graphics while staying true to the original visuals. Also, quality of life features plus controller support on PC, and a launch on both new and last-gen consoles, means many gamers will finally get a chance to experience one of the best games of all time when this Thief remaster is released later this year.

Release date: TBA 2026. Available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PS4 and Xbox One.
