2. Far Cry 5

Nobody was caught by surprise when Ubisoft announced a new entry in its open-world, first-person shooter series last May. Because the Far Cry series is one of the most popular in the gaming world, and next year’s entry looks set to please with its cool new Montana setting and several exciting new features.

These include aerial battles, more control over your guns for hire and a range of muscle cars to drive in the US countryside, amongst other things. There’s also a new enemy to take on, plus a new villain named Joseph Seed who’s running a nasty cult in Hope County, Montana. So it’s up to your character to stop the madness and bring back order to Montana, in what could be one of the top action video games of next year no doubt.

Release date: February 27, 2018. Available on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
