4. Apex Construct

If one thing is clear, is that virtual reality has not been the promised land many expected, despite the fact some decent games such as Crytek’s Robinson: The Journey have been released for VR to date. Although clearly fans are still waiting for that killer app which will convince the world that virtual reality gaming is actually worthwhile.

And it sure looks like Apex Construct, an upcoming VR game by former devs from renowned studios like DICE and Avalanche, could make people start talking about virtual reality gaming again. Set in a futuristic world, Apex Construct emphasises exploration and puzzle-solving, while also providing a healthy dose of combat to boot.

Actually, the game makers have endeavoured to create a realistic virtual reality world. Using weapons like a bow in the game should feel pretty much like the real thing too… It remains to be seen, though, whether Apex Construct will be a great experience on PlayStation VR and other headsets, but hopefully this will be the game that gets people dreaming about VR again when it’s released at a future date.

Release date: TBA. Available on PS4 (PSVR) and PC (Oculus and HTC Vive).
