Pokémon Go was only initially available in a few countries, but game creators Niantic have been rolling out the game worldwide without much incident. And even though this has been a controversial game, players around the world have mostly had a trouble-free and fun experience playing the game.

But sadly the Iranian authorities saw Pokémon Go more as a threat than a harmless diversion, and the country’s High Council of Virtual Spaces controversially banned the game in the country citing “security concerns”, after making unreasonable demands like asking for the game’s data servers to be moved to the country… So sadly this means gamers in the Islamic state won’t get to sample the delights of Niantic’s augmented reality, Pokémon-hunting game any time soon.
