Will anyone fancy spending thousands on a Steam Machine?

Or rather, the “prices”. The machines unveiled at CES ran in price from $499 (£299) to a ludicrous $6000 (£3600). Obviously the idea of spending thousands on an entertainment machine for the living room will be completely alien to console gamers, because knowing which price point is right will be almost impossible. And if they go for a low end Steam Machine they could become victims of the nasty “My machine is better than yours!” arguments that litter PC forums. It’s not like they got a PS4 with its standard hardware, but a living room PC with off the shelf components that might eventually need upgrading…
