3. Dragon’s Dogma 2 paid DLC

Many gamers were waiting with bated breath for Dragon’s Dogma 2, a sequel to the highly rated Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen game. The sequel turned out to be one of the top games of 2024, so it’s clear most reviewers did not have an issue with the game’s quality. Rather, they praised Capcom’s open-world RPG, which lets you play as an “Arisen” in order to defeat powerful enemies while travelling together with your “Pawns” in its medieval fantasy world.

What rubbed quite a few gamers the wrong way, though, was the game’s paid DLC, available for the game on day one. Amongst other things, you could pay to “fast travel” to locations in the game with real money, and also purchase a “Wakestone” which lets the player revive him or herself or other non-player characters. Although these things could also be achieved in-game without paying for microtransactions, meaning the complaints levelled at Capcom did not have that much merit though.
