3. Horizon: Zero Dawn

Horizon: Zero Dawn, which is made by game creators Guerilla Games (who are also behind the Killzone series) is shaping up to be one of the most original games of the year. It is set in a future world in which humans are no longer at the top of the food chain, civilization has collapsed, and society has gone back to the Stone Age… But Horizon: Zero Dawn’s sci-fi world is interesting not only because it features big robotic dinosaurs, but also because the game boasts a female protagonist.

And in an extended trailer shown at last year’s E3, main character Aloy is seen attacking and taking down one of the mechanical beasts with her bow (which appears to be the game’s main weapon), by hitting weak spots in the creature’s body. And it appears that stealth and strategy will be the key in Horizon: Zero Dawn’s combat, instead of charging with guns blazing, which is certainly a refreshing change. The game will also feature open-world gameplay, and it certainly looks like it can stand up against some of the year’s top upcoming releases like Ubisoft’s Far Cry Primal.
