Dead Space

This horror-survival game was set aboard the mining spaceship Ishimura, and the protagonist Isaac had to battle with hideous aliens known as the Necromorphs, whom he dealt with in a rather violent fashion. Actually Dead Space is one of the most violent video games ever.

And it was a rather scary game too, and the game’s atmosphere was surely enhanced by the music. Composer Jason Graves did not hide the fact that he made the music as non-melodic as possible, so that it would blend in with the sound effects. And this worked, as the game won GameSpot’s “Best Sound Design” category in 2008.
