2. Miami man gets Xbox One prototype

Back in 2013, a Miami resident named Jia Li who had ordered a laptop from Microsoft’s online store got something different altogether. It was a machine painted in zebra stripes, which had a video output port which allowed it to be connected to a TV. When Li did this, the word “Kryptos” showed on the screen… So had the man been sent a secret military computer instead of the ordinary laptop he had ordered online?

It turns this was not the case, and in a shocking turn of events, the mysterious machine turned out to be a prototype of Microsoft’s Xbox One console, which had not yet been unveiled to the world. These prototypes were kept in a Microsoft warehouse next to items being sold in the company’s online store, so that they would not draw any undue attention as the console was a tightly-guarded secret at the time. In the end though, Li was compensated for his troubles with a brand new Xbox 360 console, so all’s well that ends well then.
