There is no denying the popularity of the Call of Duty series. After all, it has sold more than 100 million copies. As a matter of fact the series has surely filled Activision’s coffers as it has surpassed a whopping $3 billion in sales. And this instalment in particular not only ranks amongst the most violent video games, due to its infamous “No Russian” mission, but is also one of the most expensive video games ever made.

Its $250 million (£165 million) budget is equal to that of Peter Jackson’s last Hobbit movie (The Battle of the Five Armies), which shows that Activision spared no expense to make sure Modern Warfare 2 was a great experience. They even hired renowned movie composer Hans Zimmer to write the game’s score. And while the game’s single player campaign was a tad short, the multiplayer action was deep, cinematic and hugely entertaining.
