7. Halo 5: Guardians
If one thing is clear, is that the Halo series is one of the most popular ones on the Xbox. The sci-fi first-person shooter has quite a following, and the series’ protagonist Master Chief is one of the most iconic characters in gaming. So it makes sense that fans of the series were excited when Microsoft announced Halo 5: Guardians back in 2013.
According to 343 Industries, the team behind the game, this latest instalment in the series will “amaze players with the sheer size of the worlds and battles”. And also with the games’ clever marketing it seems – Microsoft has released a pair of intriguing trailers which show the helmeted super-soldier in a different light. One of them (see below), takes place on a post-apocalyptic planet and a wounded Master Chief is accused by Agent Locke (who will be a playable character in Halo 5) of being responsible for the planet’s destruction.
The Master Chief turning to evil would definitely be an interesting twist in the story, and the return of the seductive Cortana, which has been confirmed by 343 Industries, make this Halo game one to look forward to.
Release date: October 27, 2015. Available on Xbox One. Halo 5: Guardians is not yet rated by the ESRB in the U.S. and is rated PEGI-16 (provisional) in the United Kingdom.
